Looking forward to 2014!

After taking a break this past year to throw ourselves into various thrilling adventures – like moving across the country, moving across the Atlantic, getting married, building a house, adding another kid to the family, etc. – The Jazz Council is looking forward to a reunion tour in Summer 2014! We’ve got new charts in the works, and a Led Zeppelin reprise might be in order too. Stay tuned for details, and if you’re keen to have us visit your venue, please contact us.

Aaaaaand we’re back! The Jazz Council is excited to welcome bassist Stu Driedger and pianist Geoff Haynes to the group! We’re already hard at work preparing for our next concert engagement, opening for the amazing Karl Schwonik Jazz Ensemble on October 19 in Kimberley, and planning programmes for the coming year – our third year in action already. Stay tuned!

Farewell show for Plait and Kroeker

For those of you who don’t know, we’ll be losing two amazing members this fall. Our bass player Joel Kroeker and our pianist Tim Plait are each off to explore the world. We’re hoping to present an exciting new lineup of Jazz Council-lors to you in September. In the meantime, we’re having one last theatre gig together on August 11 at The Stage Door in Cranbrook. Tickets will be $15 at Just Music in Cranbrook and Black Bear in Kimberley, and will be available July 18. Bernie Primbs will be featured on a beautiful rendition of Harlem Nocturne, Laurel Ralston will play Darn That Dream for you, and we’ll be making our debut as a jazz-cum-heavy metal band as well, playing two tunes from Led Zeppelin’s Four.

We’ve got a few new shows booked, and are starting to add dates for the fall. We’re playing June 1, July 6, and August 3 at Ric’s Lounge in the Prestige in Cranbrook, and August 10th at Centre 64 in Kimberley. We’ll also be back in Fernie this fall, on November 16th, at the Arts Station.
